movie review...

so me and some friends went to see the movie no reservations last night. loved it. you'll laugh, you'll cry, you'll cry some more, and then some more, and you'll leave smiling and feeling all warm and fuzzy! some may say this movie is cliche, predictable, and unrealistic...but i say bring on the fantasy!! i love a good fairytale! call me naive but i still believe! (whoa that was a good rhyme!! i didnt even plan that!)

i almost forgot...i saw another wonderful movie this weekend! and while im here i'll give you my thoughts from it! i saw hairspray and it was so much fun!! i cant tell you how many times i had to restrain myself from jumping out of my seat and dancing up and down the aisles of that theater! You'll leave feeling confident, believing that dreams can come true and wanting to immediately buy the soundtrack and learn every word to every song (or maybe that was just me!!) oh and leave totally in love with a high school musical star!

im not sure if many of you know this but i am often mistaken for kelly clarkson so it was no question who i would dress as for celebrity night at pathfinders last night! ok so maybe ive never been actually mistaken as her before...but i bet you wont be able to tell the difference in this picture! oh and thats my fellow idol, carrie underwood (aka darelle)!

pathfinders was awesome last night! i am so pumped for camp i can hardly stand it! me and the coolest group of 7th grade girls spending 3 whole days together at the beach...cant wait!!! if youre reading this say a quick prayer for submerge summer camp and all the students going. its going to be incredible!

this morning i was reading a couple of recent blogs of some dear friends...natalie and katherine. not only was my heart touched by both but also challenged. both of these blogs highlight some things ive been dealing with in my own life lately. im not sure they relate to each other at all but nonetheless they are great! katherine talks about living unselfishly and how easy it is to allow life to become all about ME. i, like katherine, become so angry with myself when i realize my focus has only been on myself. i apologize sincerely to those that have to put up with me on a daily basis...you know who you are! i want to love you and serve you and just treat you better than i have in the past. and natalies blog completely honors her dad on fathers day, but what i love most about this particular post is all the little things she remembers about her dad. i want to be someone who notices and enjoys all the "little things" in this life! you have to check out these blogs! i hope they bless you as much as they did me!

remember this face because i can guarantee it will be famous one day! a little info on my cousin/"sister": she lives in new york, been there for almost 2 years, owns her own rapidly growing business, she is incredibly gifted in cake designing and pastry/dessert making, shes in the process of having a book she wrote published, and most importantly the impact she makes for the kingdom of God on a daily basis blows me away! all of this and shes only 22 years old! she is one of the most amazing women i know! here are a couple of desserts shes made recently...

last night i think i waxed about 1000 eyebrows at pamper night...well maybe thats an exaggeration! pamper night, at hpc, was a huge success! over 1200 women were able to be treated like the princesses they are and made to feel extra beautiful! i was most excited to hand out my new business cards! what do you think??

im starting to do more work...as far as makeup and waxing goes...so if you know anyone who needs a new look or has a special occasion coming up, you know who to get! me!

so for those of you who dont know... i am a leader in pathfinders, junior high ministry of healing place church, led by the very talented, very annointed, very loved pastors tyler and crystal tullos! its the greatest place to be on a wednesday night for not only junior high students but anyone!! i absolutely love being a part of what God is doing in this generation! i love seeing 10 11 12 13 and 14 year olds worshipping with their whole hearts and seeking the presence of God. i especially have to give a shout out to the navigate summer session students...who have committed their entire summer to attending Bible classes and working in different areas of ministry just to grow in the knowledge of God and gaining wisdom on how to live a world changing life. i walked in on their prayer time this morning...no one was talking or messing around, everyone of them was either journaling or reading their Bible or praying or singing...awesome! how many junior high students do you know that would do something like this??? they are incredible and i love them all dearly!

this can be a challenging question at times...unless of course you go with the usual...dinner and movie...which is fun, but don't you long to mix it up every now and then??? i know i do! well i may have found something... has anyone ever heard of the family dinner?? i hadnt until i read the latest issue of 225 (being an employee now i feel sort of an obligation...but i love it too!) anyways they did a small write up on the group...

seems to be a group of improv comedians. they perform every friday night at 9pm at perks coffee and tea. i think id like to try it! sound like fun??

with my new job i now have a little bit of a drive to work, but i definitely don't mind. i absolutely love summer mornings! i love driving with the windows down, sunglasses on, music blaring, and coffee in hand! it's just one of my most favorite feelings!

so i'll be surprised if maybe 2 people read this post seeing as it has been about 10 years since my last post! you should know that my life is completely different now! well not really but sort of...
elevate is over and im sinking into depression because of it. just kidding!! its not that bad but it is a little sad...i just miss everyone so much! and i have no idea what to do with all my free time!
i started a new job last week...i now am employed at baton rouge business report and 225 magazine! exciting, huh?! i work downtown and i have to dress nice everyday...i feel so corporate and business woman-ish! pretty cool. i worked on these promotional pieces this week...arent they cute?

oh and i must say everyone i work with now is absolutely wonderful! they have been so sweet to me! thanks guys!
ok so i know it may take awhile before some of you put me back into your hearts and back on your blogroll...but i promise i'm back! at least for a little while....

we leave for africa in just a few hours now! i can't believe it's already here! i hope to be able to blog at least once while we're over there, but who knows, that may be impossible. if i don't get to blog, dan ohlerking (our fearless leader!) may be able to blog on our elevate mozambique blog, so check that too. and in case you're wondering...we're on our way to mozambique, africa...specifically to a community outside of maputo. this is where the newest hpc campus will be, with isaac and carol as the pastors! we'll be there for the official launch of the church! we'll also be spending a little time in swaziland with charles and kristen. i'm so excited to see what God is doing and will do during our trip in these parts of africa. your prayers are so needed...thank you so much for all your support! tchau (portuguese for goodbye:)) america...until may 2nd!

so it seems the closer we get to our africa departure date the funner the days get! today was no exception! it started off great because i got to put on a new shirt! i think everyone is in agreement when i say any day with a new outfit is at the very least a good day...well that's how it is for me anyways! and here i am sporting my new top...what do ya think??

...and then i got to go to lunch with a really great group! it was loads of fun with tyler, crystal, micah, byrd, and jp. here is jp looking really cool in his shades (there is absolutely no hint of sarcasm whatsoever in my tone)!

probably the best part of the day was our africa training. we had a balloon class! doesn't that just sound fun?! we were taught by one of the clowns in the hpc clown ministry to make all sorts of things out of balloons! i loved it! my favorites were the giraffe and my little lady bug! check em out...

please continue to pray for our team before we leave and while we're there. pray that God's dream for this trip would be fulfilled...that we would be everything He'd want us to be there.

wow. it's amazing what comments on a blog will do! i feel so much better! thanks guys.
well it was another wonderful weekend! i was able to cram an excessive amount of information into my head (20 pages worth to be exact) for a test today. i'd like to thank katie for the perfect study technique, francis at ihop for the endless cups of coffee and water in the freezer, and brandon for picking up the tab sunday night! i couldn't have learned all i did without you guys! now lets hope all of this pays off on the test i'll take in a couple of hours! i would also like to mention the hysterical fact that up until this past sunday night katie fontenot thought ghandi was a magician. don't be too hard on her...she was raised in a foreign country.
on sunday i was able to hear from one of the most dynamic speakers i have ever heard! perhaps you've heard of him??...pastor tyler tullos...amazing! he answered so gracefully the question we've all asked...why is life not fair? and i loved his answer..."it's not not so much our problem we should worry about but our perspective. God always has a promise for us and this should be our focus...the promise!" i was so blessed! thank you pastor tyler!

this weekend i also got to hang out with one of my most favorite people, my brilliant, beautiful cousin/sister, cara! it was so great to see her...she brings me such joy! here we are at pf changs with katie friday night!

we leave for africa in 4 days now! it's really starting to hit me! i've never been this far away before! if you're interested here are a few ways you can pray for our team...unity among us, discernment for us, protection, and healing for brandon's back. thank you so much. and also thank to everyone who has supported us financially for this trip...the way God provides for his people through each other amazes me...thanks for being obedient!

lately i've been hearing some say that my blog site is...well...less than interesting. this cut me deep, cut me real deep (haha...that was for barton!). anyways...i just dont understand! i feel like i've been trying so hard to be a blogger just like everyone else and no matter what i do it seems that it's not good enough! perhaps some of you "experts"(you know who you are) could throw me some advice or helpful hints instead of just making rude comments of how bad my blog is! i know i dont have a new post every hour or amazing graphics that i hand made or things that you can only have with WORDPRESS...whatever THAT is! well you'll all be happy to know that i'm making a promise to try harder. i'll blog more often. i'll try with all the knowledge i have to make it look cooler. i even have this nice new template, what do you think?! ok well leave me a comment to boost my confidence! and by the way here is my amazing elevate family...africa in 7 days!! woo hoo!!

so i know it's been forever since i last blogged. but i've finally found something that's definitely blog-worthy! today we're hosting the band, delirious, and rebecca st. james before their concert tonight. i'm stationed to work in the hospitality room where the bands will have breakfast, lunch, and dinner. we just finished breakfast and got a wonderful surprise! martin, lead singer for delirious, actually served US!! he made us italian macciatos with his very own espresso maker! how cool, huh?! what a great guy!

this past weekend had to be the most jammed packed weekend ever. friday the other elevaters and i had a mystery lunch (definition: each person comes as an assigned character to the party. while at the party you're trying to figure out the answer to a murder mystery). it was pretty funny to see katie dressed as john wayne and saying things like "well hi there pretty little young lady." my character was groucho marx. i had no idea who this was. the only thing i knew was black mustache, cigar, and wiry hair (whatever that means!) i did my best with some black electrical tape, a rolled up napkin as my cigar, and the wierdest accent i could think of! maybe i did ok? i know caused quite a few laughs and won best actress. probably only because i made the biggest fool of myself! let me know how you think i compare...

friday night began the garage sale marathon! we began sorting through the donations of what seemed like thousands of people! katherine made a most interesting discovery...

hey, you know what they say..."one man's trash is another man's treasure." anyways....the garage sale turned out to be a huge hit! we were able to raise $2700.00 for our trip to africa! which by the way is coming up in about 26 days! i cant wait! without any sleep at all i still was able to work 2 services saturday night. thank you Lord for supernatural strength! and thank you red bull. it's now tuesday so...here's to another week!

woo hoo! in delivery as i type! i must say though crystal must be feeling pretty good....about 30 minutes ago i get a call from tyler telling me to stop at sonic to get the BIGGEST CHERRY VANILLA CREAM DR.PEPPER WITH EXTRA MILK AND LOTS OF CHERRIES! while he is telling me i can hear her in the background also telling me exactly how she wants it. also while he is telling me this he told me he saw the head...eww...anyways...i was like are you really thinking about dr. pepper right now??!! well i got it...

ok so we're all here waiting anxiously to see this little guy. we just heard she had him!! oh my word!! 8 lbs 7 oz...22 in!!! yea!! here are a few excited faces....

everything is going great! crystal feels much better after they gave her "the drug"!! she's just trying to relax now. i helped by giving her a manicure!! isn't she beautiful?!

They gave us an estimate of about 7 hours before we would see Mr. Whitaker Ty. I prayed it would be quick! So pray with me! Yea! This is so exciting! So wierd too...seems like just yesterday we were kids and having our own seemed like a trillion years away. Well, welcome to a trillion years later, huh?! I'll keep the updates coming, don't worry! Oh and here's dad and papa!

currently i am pacing the floor of the labor and delivery waiting room calling all of the family! i'm so excited i can hardly stand it! i just can't wait to see this little one!

here are some interesting facts about whitaker's date of birth, march 22nd

-it's my mom's birthday, whitaker's great aunt

-it would also be the 100th birthday of whitaker's great great grandmother

-mine and crystal's grandma has been praying that today would be the day

-randomly last night a pathfinder's mom said it would be today

wierd, huh?!! just so you know, nothing is happening right now. they are still checking her in and everything. they have to do all of the "paper work" before any visitors can come back. so, i'll keep you updated as things progress! woo hoo!!

i'll blog! am i the last person at hpc to blog?? probably! well, here i am on a tuesday afternoon. my head feels about the size of a basketball right now, due to the severe allergies i've had the last FOUR days. yuck. oh well. i did, however, just take a nice little pill that i do believe is relieving some of my symptoms...thank you advil. beware, everyone, i have heard this allergy season is supposed to be a bad one! stock up on your favorite antihistamine

while i'm here i would also like to offer an apology to a particular individual, michael griffis. michael, if you're reading this, know that it was never my intention to "set you up" or embarrass you in any way! you should also know that in spite of your failed attempts at becoming an american idol, i still think very highly of your vocal abilities. please accept this very sincere apology!
